Prof. Lignos organized a special session related to the stability of steel columns under cyclic loading as part of the 2017 Structures Congress.

Prof. Lignos organized a special session related to the stability of steel columns under cyclic loading as part of the 2017 Structures Congress. Five speakers (Prof. C.M. Uang, University of California San Diego, Prof. R. Tremblay, Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal, Dan Beck, Holmes Structures, Prof. Larry Fahnestock, University of Illinois at Urbana Champain, Prof. D. Lignos, EPFL) presented several findings related to the behavior, design and modeling of steel columns as part of steel frame buildings designed in seismic areas. Prof. Lignos presented selected findings regarding the behavior of deep wide flange steel columns in steel moment resisting frames in North America. The title of his presentation was "Dynamic Stability of Steel Columns in Steel Moment-Resisting Frames – Experiments, Design Recommendations & Nonlinear Modeling for Performance Based Seismic Engineering"
