Science celebrated at Microcity

This Saturday, over 4500 people of all ages responded to EPFL's invitation to visit its Neuchâtel site Microcity and celebrate science.

The EPFL laboratories in Neuchâtel had exceptionally opened their doors to the public, a fantastic opportunity to interact directly with researchers.

Visiting the exhibition “ How does it work?” , young and old have learned a lot from EPFL's students, and scientific mediators. The 500 places available for science workshops for children aged 4 to 13 years were fully booked.

EPFL partners participated to this festival with interesting activities. For its 50th anniversary, the Foundation “ Science appelle les jeunes” was present with research projects and a molecular bar. SimplyScience presented its Internet platform dedicated to science, with experiences, articles and games.

EPFL thanks the public from all over the region for coming numerous and enthusiastic to discover the research run in its labs in Neuchâtel, their importance for society and to learn more about science and technology. Testimonies show that this event met the expectations of visitors. "When will the next edition takes place?", asks this very curious public, enthusiastic to have access to the science comprehension and EPFL's research laboratories.

The event fulfilled its purpose of awakening interest in science, answering questions and contributing to the understanding of scientific and technological knowledge.
