Professor Daniel Favrat, director of the Industrial Energy Systems Laboratory (LENI), has recently been elected to the executive committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO). This election follows his major contribution in successfully presiding the program committee of the 4th World Engineers Convention that met last September in Geneva some 1800 participants from more than 80 nations. This new role comes in addition to his role as vice-chair of the standing energy committee of this federation, which he has held since 2007.

Based at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, WFEO is the highest organization of all engineering societies Worldwide, including well-known American societies like IEEE, ASME and ASCE. The two Swiss engineering societies SIA and Swiss Engineering are represented via a Swiss Committee of WFEO - FEANI (Federation of European Associations of engineers). The role of WFEO is to promote the vital role of engineers in the harmonious development of human societies.

“Engineers are part of the solution (not part of the problem, as is sometimes said !)”
