Professor Ralf Seifert has been awarded a Swiss National Science Foundation research grant to study the link between inventory management strategies and the financial performance of the firm.

This research is focused on the financial consequences that operational decisions have on firm performance. Whereas reduced holding costs easily can be tracked on the balance sheet, shortage costs are less tangible. During this project we will empirically investigate how firms manage inventory levels over time and how inventory variations affect firm profitability. The ultimate objective of this research is to provide managerial insights that can assist firms in their strategic inventory management decisions. Professor Seifert will conduct this research project together with Olov Isaksson, PhD candidate at the CDM-MTEI.
