Nature Research Journals

nature.com is the access platform to Nature Research Journals published by Springer Nature for the whole EPFL community.

The EPFL Library has been subscribing for more than 10 years to Nature Research online journals. The collection is enriched each year and now has 51 titles mainly relating to the specialized fields of biology and medicine, as well as those of materials and environmental sciences.

Among these resources, all articles of the journal Nature, since the first issue in 1869, are accessible at EPFL. In addition, the titles Nature and The Journal of the Operational Research Society are available in print format at the Library (Technical and Mathematical Sciences section).

The Nature Research products’ license agreement is annually renewed at EPFL according to the negotiations conducted in partnership with the Swiss Consortium of Libraries. In a context of a continual expansion of the publishing market with increase of subscriptions costs, negotiation is essential. For example, the number of subscriptions for Nature Research products at EPFL have doubled in 12 years; thanks to the discounts annually negotiated, it has been possible for EPFL able to restrain marginally the significant cost explosion inflicted by the publisher.

Issues of major scientific interest, such as Open Access (OA) publication and Text and Data Mining (TDM), are also supported by the Library during negotiations with the publisher.
