New edition of the Network Industries Quarterly, published by the Chair MIR in collaboration with TU Delft.

The liberalization and unbundling of network industries has triggered a fundamental transformation of innovation management. Niches have appeared at all levels of the value chain and new players have emerged to fill them. As a result, the management of innovation has become more complex. Multiple stakeholders participate in the innovation process and their relationship has evolved often leading to a blurring of organizational borders. This edition of the Network Industries Quarterly looks at innovation management issues in several sectors, including postal services, air traffic management, telecommunications, energy and railways.

Themes of this edition:

  • Is open innovation a sustainable option for the postal sector? Andrea Zeller
  • A research perspective on innovation management in air traffic management. Kurt Klein
  • Are telecom services the hidden engine of innovation in the ICT ecosystem. Jean-Paul Simon
  • External innovation of energy service providers in Germany. Jörg Musiolik
  • European railway harmonization: How technology induces organizational and institutional mutations. Guillaume de Tilière
  • New information challenges for the Italian energy retail market. Fabiana Di Porto
