Welcome to Vangjush Komini and Leilah Sory

Vangjush Komini has already a BSc and MSc in Electornic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirane (Albania) and a MSc from the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (UK) and is just completing his MSc in Artificial Intelligence at KU Leuven in Belgium. Vangjush has a large experience in image analysis and deep learning and will work with Dr. Bastian Wilding on setting up a new research line of EESD on damage identification.

Leilah Sory is an undergraduate student at McGill University in Canada and won one of the scholarships to the EPFL Research Internship Program. Leilah will be working with Dr. Michele Godio and Dr. Bastian Wilding and will carry out experimental work characterising the interface properties between stone, mortar and plaster. The results with serve as input parameters to advanced finite element simulations of stone masonry walls with plaster. The current lack of such results is a major impedement to such simulations.
