EPFL’s School of Engineering (STI) announced the first results of its Quantitative Ranking of Engineering Disciplines (QRED) - a discipline-specific ranking of universities world-wide. This purely bibliometric analysis of Bioengineering departments finds EPFL Bioengineering in 3rd place worldwide.

The EPFL School of Engineering, Dean's Office, has carried out a bibliometric analysis of several bioengineering programs in Europe (EPFL, ETHZ, University of Twente, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Oxford, TU-Eindhoven, Politechnico Milano, and Technion — universities that were judged to have top bioengineering programs) and the six top-ranked bioengineering programs in the United States (based on the US News and World Report ranking, namely MIT, UCSD, GeorgiaTech, Duke, Johns Hopkins, and University of Washington Seattle).

The EPFL's Interfaculty Institute of Bioengineering (IBI) sits at the interface of the Life Sciences and Life Technologies, and bridges two EPFL Schools: the School of Life Sciences (SV) and the School of Engineering (STI).
