Luc Testa joined LQM in early October as a PhD student working on neutron scattering experiments

Luc graduated in Physics from EPFL. During his studies, he mainly focused on theoretical solid state physics and, more specifically, on the study of magnetic systems. He did his semester projects under the supervision of Prof. Frédéric Mila where he worked on SU(N) Heisenberg and Hubbard models. Thanks to an undergraduate fellowship, he did his master thesis at SISSA, Trieste, under the supervision of Dr. Federico Becca. The aim was to study the magnetic and energetic behaviour of SU(3) and SU(4) Heisenberg models on the square and triangular lattice using a Variational Monte-Carlo method.

At LQM, he will be working on neutron scattering investigation of low-dimensional materials. We are glad to welcome Luc and look forward to working on new projects with him.
